Blessing Israel

This is what the Sovereign Lord says: "See I will beckon to the Gentiles, I will lift up my banner to the peoples; they will bring your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders" (Isaiah 49:22).

The relationship between the people of Israel and the rest of the world has been a difficult one. God called Israel to be a separate nation, a holy nation – one that would follow in his ways and be a light to the world.

Israel was called by God as an example, so that the world could learn its own need of Israel's God.

As it turned out Israel and the nations have had a hard time understanding each other, sometimes to the point of great animosity. But that is not to be the end of the story.

Israel has a wonderful destiny. God has determined that his people would come to realize everything he ever intended for them, including a safe and secure home in their own land.

Understandably there are many among the Jewish people who have come to think that their only hope is themselves. After centuries of persecution by non-Jews, the rest of the world is held in great suspicion.

But this is not what the Scriptures foresee -far from it! As we read here in Isaiah, the nations of the world are very much involved in helping Israel come into its own. The picture here is one of non-Jewish people lovingly helping Israel back to their God-promised inheritance.

For centuries Christians have been the perpetrators of anti-Jewish sentiment. Bad church doctrine with no biblical basis has helped to create a great chasm between Jews and non-Jews.

But thankfully this is changing. There are many non-Jews who are beginning to rightly understand Israel's place in God's heart and are seeking ways to be a blessing to them.

Isaiah's words will be fulfilled. The change in the hearts of non-Jews toward Israel will be so radical that it will have a tremendous impact:

Then you will know that I am the Lord (Isaiah 49:23).

The non-Jewish people's blessing of Israel will result in a great spiritual renewal among the Jewish people. Are you ready for it? Will you be part of it?
